Thomas E. Chase joined RLR in July 2001, having formerly been associated with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy (1994-1999) and Bernstein, Litowitz, Berger and Grossman (1999-2000).

Mr. Chase concentrates his practice on representing businesses and individuals in sophisticated corporate, securities, commercial and employment disputes. Recent representative matters include the representation of a family of founding shareholders of a publicly traded company in a lengthy arbitration against a major brokerage firm for losses resulting from the brokerage firm's refusal to allow the family to execute a tax-advantaged hedging strategy; representation of an executive recruiting firm with respect to unfair competition claims against several of the firm's partners and a competitor; representation of a large Manhattan residential co-op in a multi-week jury trial against the co-op's property insurance company with respect to the insurer's failure to cover losses resulting from the catastrophic collapse of the co-op's underground parking garage; and representation of an advertising executive with respect to claims against his former employer for failing to pay severance and bonuses. Mr. Chase has also represented numerous investors with respect to claims against both brokerage firms and issuers of securities.

Mr. Chase received his B.A. in political science from Bard College in 1991 and his J.D., cum laude, from The University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as an Editor of The University of Wisconsin Law Review. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where he is an active member of the Committee on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar.
