Stacy L. Ceslowitz became a member of RLR in 2020. Prior to joining RLR, Ms. Ceslowitz was a litigation associate with Proskauer Rose LLP and of counsel to Schoeman Updike Kaufman & Stern. Ms. Ceslowitz has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Research and Writing at Seton Hall University School of Law.
During her career, Ms. Ceslowitz has worked on a wide range of litigations including complex commercial actions and disputes involving product liability, consumer fraud, employment-related issues and intellectual property. Most recently, in March 2016, following a six-day arbitration before a FINRA panel, Ms. Ceslowitz (with Mr. Lipman) won $1,335,000 in compensatory damages for defamation in favor of quantitative trader Kieran Fitzgerald against his former employer Sun Trading LLC, a high-frequency trading firm. The three-member panel also recommended full “expungement” from Mr. Fitzgerald’s industry record of Sun’s false statements concerning his termination from the firm. Other representative cases include the defense of a multinational banking and financial services corporation accused of ERISA violations, a branded lifestyle company in an action alleging barriers to access under the ADA, a big-box retailer in an alleged breach of license agreement, a supplier of nutritional supplements in a breach-of-contract action alleging failure to disclose the presence of allergens, a blood collection and distribution organization in actions alleging transmission of blood-borne disease, and an automobile manufacturer in cases involving negligence, product liability and consumer fraud.
Ms. Ceslowitz received her B.A. degree from the University of Illinois in 1995 and her J.D. degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1998, where she was Managing Editor of the Journal of International and Comparative Law. She is admitted to practice in the state courts of New York and New Jersey, as well as the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Ms. Ceslowitz is currently the Co-President of the JCO of Northern Bergen County, a not-for-profit charitable organization based in Northern New Jersey.
